Puffins, Pixels, and Plenty of Collaboration
This summer, AMT Center was delighted to welcome two Spiro3D project visitors to Aberdeen, proving that great ideas can travel just as far as migratory birds.
Dr Irene Groenevelt from Tilburg University joined AMT to explore participant experience of very-low-field lung MRI. Meanwhile, Nino Keravel from BioMaps visited to help bring advanced automated lung segmentation methods into the Aberdeen workflow, helping our images reveal even more about lung function.
Of course, collaboration is not confined to research. During their visits, the group took a trip to RSPB Scotland Fowlsheugh, where they enjoyed spectacular views of Scotland’s seabird colonies and met the true stars of the show: the puffins. Between discussions on anthropology, image analysis, and lung imaging, there was plenty of time to admire the birds.
The visits were a fantastic opportunity to share expertise, strengthen collaborations, and make new connections. We’re grateful to Irene and Nino for spending time in Scotland with the AMT team, and we’re excited to see where these ideas take flight next.
