Title

Low-field 3D MR spirometry in healthy children against gravity

Leading partner

UPSaclay

Work Package

WP3

Sites

Service Hospitalier Frédéric Joliot, Orsay, France

Population

30 healthy children (15 girls and 15 boys) will be recruited to simultaneously undergo spirometry and LF 3D MR spirometry.

Objectives

  1. Validate LF 3D MR spirometry against spirometry in healthy subjects
  2. Assess the sensitivity of LF 3D MR spirometry to prone and supine position
  3. Assess the regional lung structural and functional changes with prone and supine positions using LF 3D MR spirometry
  4. Evaluate the regional lung mechanics with respect to prone and supine positions using LF 3D MR spirometry
  5. Establish flow-volume loop maps in healthy subjects with LF 3D MR spirometry
  6. Compare flow-volume loop maps in healthy subjects with LF and SF 3D MR spirometry

Examination

All included subjects will have LF 3D MR spirometry at Service Hospitalier Frédéric Joliot. MRI scans will be acquired using a MR compatible spirometer for reference.
3D MR spirometry will be performed on a 0.55 T MR imaging system (Siemens Healthineers) at Service Hospitalier Frédéric Joliot. Subjects will breath freely in prone and supine positions for 2 MR acquisitions. Dynamic 3D lung images will be reconstructed and processed (WP2) by UPSaclay to primarily provide maps of flow-volume loops and maps of fractional anisotropy strain metric.
