Data

Books and journal articles about breathing and (dynamic) medical imaging of the lungs in Science and Technology Studies, the social sciences, and the humanities.

Objectives

  1. Develop a situated understanding of the (dynamic) medical imaging technologies of the lungs that are used and developed in the V|LF-Spiro3D, with consideration of the historical and sociocultural contexts in which these technologies are embedded
  2. Explore how (dynamic) medical imaging informs understandings of the body and embodiment and vice versa in biomedical, cultural and artistic settings
  3. Explore how normal and pathological breathing are understood, experienced, and practiced in Western and non-Western contexts
  4. Speculate about how (dynamic) medical imaging of the lungs might restructure how people relate to their breathing and their bodies

Procedure

This study follows all the steps of a literature review, including summary and synthesis of existing studies, and explore the possible phenomenological and sociocultural impact of new/dynamic imaging technologies that are the used and developed within the V|LF-Spiro3D consortium.
